Fundy Model Forest is a diverse partnership of industry, government agencies, research organizations, communities, environmental and other grass root groups. The partners come together within the Model Forest to identify issues, develop and test solutions, and put the new ideas and tools into use. Four of the partners represent different types of landownership: a federal park, provincial Crown Land, industrial freehold and small private woodlots. More than 40 communities in New Brunswick are considered forest dependent. The vision of Fundy Model Forest is "Healthy communities within a working Acadian Forest managed using the principles of sustainable forest management." Fundy Model Forest is working on finding opportunities to use wood and wood biomass for heat and energy and new business options for woodlots. Other projects focus on helping communities plan for a sustainable future and assisting recovery of Inner Bay of Fundy and Atlantic salmon.
